About Paul McCarthy
"My journey to this work stems from an understanding that the pathways to healing are rarely linear. I was comfortably established in my life and early professional career until a series of tribulations in 1997 prompted me to seek support outside the medical model. The profound assistance I received at a holistic health retreat sparked a lifelong devotion to holistic wellbeing and spiritual development through meditation, study and pilgrimage.In 2007, my first experience under crystal lights radically changed the trajectory of my life. Unable to shake the experience, I traveled to Brasil a few months later to acquire a crystal light apparatus. I have been a custodian of this instrument and offered treatments in Coogee since 2008. To support this work, I immersed myself in the study of Spiritism, developed my mediumship through rigorous practice and pilgrimage. I later led meditation events across Australia and, inspired by pilgrimages, I researched and wrote books about the mystic lives of St Francis of Assisi and St Ignatius of Loyola.My offering is uniquely grounded, combining deep energetic sensitivity with skills from corporate leadership and a diverse range of wellness and spiritual practices.My professional career began as a therapist in a child psychiatry service before transitioning into health complaints resolution, and later serving in senior roles directing public policy, legislation, corporate strategy, governance and partnerships.In 2026, I retired from the public service to offer a new type of service for those attracted to the light.My mission is to share my skills and knowledge and I humbly offer various tools to align you with your soul's authentic path."

We provide flat-rate, transparent pricing based on your session’s duration. Crystal light treatment and meditation
Immerse your body in high-vibration color therapy inside a completely private healing space. While lying fully clothed on a comfortable bed, seven pure, precision-cut quartz crystals align above you, radiating light to your major chakra centres, complemented by soothing, uplifting music.Before your session begins, you will formulate a private intention. While the lights interact with your field, I hold space and pray for your intentions in an adjacent room, making additional energy available to maximise your treatment.At the end of the session I will guide you through a meditation session.The crystal light experience leaves many clients feeling profoundly relaxed, recalibrated, and aligned.
Meditation training
Available exclusively in person, this training offers guided instruction in meditation in the Spiritist tradition, integrating breath work, visualisation and prayer to help you establish a secure line of communication with your higher self and the benevolent guiding spirits. Helpful for anyone seeking to advance spiritually, safe mediumistic development or energetic protection.
Intuitive guidance and coaching
A highly focused, supportive, yet challenge-driven personal development experience designed to help you dismantle personal or professional roadblocks. Rooted in non-denominational spirituality and mediumship, this practice leverages a wide range of tools to assist you to look directly into your soul’s plan to formulate practical steps forward. Your initial 90-minute session must occur in person; follow-ups may be seamlessly conducted online.
Pilgrimage
Journeying to sacred locations can accelerate spiritual breakthroughs and clear heavy, ancestral karma. Having travelled to 50 countries, we can help you to plan a sacred pilgrimage of your own.We also conduct an annual, invitation only, 9-day pilgrimage to Assisi, Italy, which includes an optional 5-day extension to Rome.

Practicalities
Crystal light treatments: The first crystal light treatment is 60 minutes. This includes orientation, 20 minutes of light, a guided meditation, and a debrief. Subsequent treatments for individuals may be 60 minutes (20 or 40 minutes of light plus guided meditation and brief discussion) or 90 minutes (20, 40, or 60 minutes of light plus guided meditation and brief discussion).Dual crystal light treatment: By prior arrangement, a special 2-hour crystal light treatment and meditation session can be booked for 2 people. This is exclusively reserved for romantic partners or immediate family members seeking to clear shared relational dynamics and karma.Crystal light treatment contraindications: I do not offer the crystal light treatment to people with epilepsy, people under 14 years or pregnant women.Crystal light treatment preparation: Please come to the session with your intention in your pocket. Please also wear loose, comfortable clothing to your crystal light appointment—ideally white or light in color. We kindly request that you remove all watches and external personal crystals before entering the crystal light treatment room.Logistics & Availability: Appointments are securely hosted from Thursday through Sunday, 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, at Coogee Beach, NSW or at other times by special arrangement. Our live digital booking calendar (https://iluminar-coogeebeach.square.site) is the definitive way to secure your spot.Payments & Cancellations: Full advance payment via electronic funds transfer (EFT) or online payment via Square (surcharge applies) is required to secure your appointment. Out of respect for our practitioners, fees are strictly non-refundable if a cancellation occurs within 72 hours of your scheduled time but we will do our best to find a suitable alternative time for you. Sessions will strictly finish on time and cannot be extended for late arrivals.Pricing:Includes GST (10%). There is no surcharge for payments by EFT. To cover third party transaction costs, a surchange of 2.2% applies to other online payments.Information privacy: Limited personal information (for example name, birth information, email address and telephone number) is collected with consent to provide services and follow-up.
